The Pin-Up Pole Tour de Force!
My poor little Vegas apartment is feeling neglected. Only days after arriving home from my East Coast Tour, I set off again, for Los Angeles and Girl Next Door: A Pole Dance Soirée. A few show pics are up on my offiicial Facebook page and video will go live very soon. I’ve come away from LA completely motivated, inspired and somewhat bruised after the show followed by taking a long series of classes with Kelly Yvonne & her brilliant instructors at Choreography House. What is a teacher if not also a student, open minded and willing to take on new perspective?! All in all, I stretched, twisted and extended myself way out of my comfort zone and feel wonderful for it. LA is a crazy town and that’s half the beauty of it!
So, on from LA to Mexico City this week. I am currently being hosted by Gravity Studios, my Mexican pole family, and today and tomorrow I’m teaching at the studio I am godmother (“Madrina”) for, Gravity Satellite. Later this week I will travel to Acapulco, Tabasco and Vera Cruz to teach and perform. I can’t wait! I love this country and its rich and colourful culture. I can’t help but be happy here.
On my return to the US, I will almost immediately be heading to Chicago for the Midwest Pole Convention, where I will be teaching, judging and performing. I’ll also have my own booth with some sparkly JD merch & other goodies. Come say hi, or take one of the last remaining places in my workshops!
My new management Poles On Tour are putting together some fierce touring for the coming months!. I am about to announce my new dates, which will include Las Vegas (Pole Expo), the Canadian Pole Fitness Championships, a second East Coast tour, and of course Miss Texas Pole Star, followed by the French Pole Championships in Paris. In November I will visit South America for the first time, and in January & February 2014 I will be back in my home country for a month of solid touring! Excited much! If you’re an Australian studio and you would like me to visit you, please contact me here.
Postscript: My tour dates have gone live on my Facebook Fan Page!
Girl Next Door
I am happy, proud and excited all at once to announce that I’ll be featuring in Girl Next Door: A Pole Dance Soirée on Sunday, August 4th, at the King King in Hollywood, LA.
After tentative bookings and changed travel plans several times over the last few years, we have finally teed up a definite appearance. I can’t wait!
Be sure to book your tickets early as this show will definitely sell out. See you there!
Pole Love: Thank You for the Support
I wrote a post on Facebook a few days ago that I’d like to share here since you might not be on my friends list (it’s long full, sorry – you can always join my Fan Page instead). It was inspired by the ones who support pole dancers – friends, family, partners, colleagues – the ones who not only take us as we are (often a little left of centre/ freaky or at least “creative”), but who get that we are ALL the personas we show throughout the day (and more), and who celebrate that. Those who aren’t afraid to stand up in public and say, yup, he/ she’s my ….. (friend/ partner/ family). And isn’t he/she amazing. Here’s the post, and if you’d like to support it on Facebook, here’s the link.
“I’m taking my hat off today to the partners of pole dancers who support, share and celebrate alongside us. Some of us use stage names, some of us portray characters, some just perform moves, but all of us, all of us, are both the performer AND the person who leaves the stage or studio at the end of the day. We are not two split personalities. Our stage persona is not some useless fake thing to be discarded or disregarded. Who we are encompasses the whole lot, and isn’t that just awesome (and healthy). So here’s to the support crew/ partners/ family who can see & appreciate that and love all of it. Thanks for letting us be all of who we are, without reservation. That’s Pole Love. Jamilla … Out!” ~ Jamilla, July 13, 2013
